“The Lord is my Light and my salvation, whom shall I fear” Ps. 103:1

Kathy Janet Smith was born November 18, 1970 and departed this life on May 20, 2016 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital.  She was the daughter of Bennie Lee and Ella June Smith.  Kathy was a joy to her parents, the third child of this union and a very wise and very active individual, even at a young age.

After completion of high school, Kathy went on to earn her associate degree in Business at Indiana Business College.  She was pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at the time of her demise.

Kathy accepted Christ at a young age and had a beautiful voice that everyone enjoyed listening to.  She also worked with young children in church and was a frequent lead in the church plays at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Anderson under the late Dist. Elder Hosea Barnes, Emmanuel Temple, Anderson, under the late Dist. Elder L C. Jackson and Christ Temple Global Ministry, Muncie, under Bishop Michael Millben.

After completion of high school, Kathy went on to earn her associate degree in Business at Indiana Business College.  She was pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at the time of her demise.

Kathy had that kind of magnetic personality that drew people to her, thus she gained many friendships through the years.  Kathy enjoyed a variety of work experiences; she worked as a sales associate for K-Mart in the commercial photography department.  After this, she worked as a sales associate at JC Penny’s in the Muncie Mall.  She then accepted a position as Hotel Manager at the Red Roof Inn in Muncie, and managing a hotel in Anderson and in Indianapolis.  Kathy then started her career with Youth Opportunity Center, advancing to Senior Child Care Specialist.

Kathy was loved by the staff as well as the children who were assigned through the courts to the facility.  She knew the rules, abided by them and took a firm hand with the clients, but she did it with love and they felt it.

In June, 2015, Kathy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer which quickly advanced to stage four.  Since that time, she fought valiantly and with grace, keeping her faith in Jesus her hopes and trust in Him giving Him praise all the way.
