Pastor Roosevelt Boyd was born January 15, 1934 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the late Aaron Boyd & Mary Dixon Boyd Simmons.
He moved to Anderson, IN at an early age, and worked at Emge Packing Co. and Anderson Community School. He retired from driving bus #8 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Concerned Ministers of Anderson, MLK Commission & Peerless Lodge #32. He founded Greater Progressive Temple of Faith Church in September of 1984, and served as Pastor until his passing.
Pastor Boyd went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2019 at Community Hospital after a brief illness.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years, Jaine Boyd; children, Rosemary Ball; Roosevelt (Regina) Boyd; Timothy Boyd Sr.; Evan. Rinnie Boyd; Kayra (Karlton) Turner; brother, Wesley (Eleanor) Simmons, sister, Anna Pearl (John) Hampton, sisters-in-law, Nora Boyd, Loretta Simmons, Belinda Simmons, Ruthie Boyd, Collette Simmons, Geraldine (James) Jackson, Beverly Joyce Burnett & Jennifer Burnett; brother-in-law, Norman Robinson; aunt, Carrie Nunn, Hattie Turner, Rosanna (Andre) Streaty, Queen Esther (Billy) Payne & uncle, Lee Charles “Buck” Dixon, Richard Patterson, Leonard Patterson, Leslie Patterson, 36 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren & 2 great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and his Progressive Temple of Faith Church Family of 35 years.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Ollie and Mahalia Dixon; brothers, Henry (Essie) Boyd, William “Bill” Boyd, Aaron (Ann) Boyd, Rev. L.C. Boyd, Jack Simmons, Tommie Simmons, James Simmons and Robert Simmons; grandsons, Ra-Shaun Boyd and Eric Maxwell, mother-in-law, Ollie Mae Patterson; father-in- law, Pete Burnette; spiritual mother, Gladys Sweatt; sister-in-law, Joann Burnette; brother-in – law Nathaniel Burnette; aunts Sealie Watson, Annie Nunn, Mamie Dixon, Callie Dixon, Frances Dixon and Rosie Nunn; uncles William Dixon, Spencer Dixon, J.T Dixon, Allen Dixon, Sam Dixon and Charlie Dixon.
Service will be held 11am Saturday at Anderson Zion Baptist Church, 2008 Rev. J.T. Menifee St., with burial at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 6-9pm Friday at Anderson Zion Baptist Church and 10-11am Saturday prior to service.
