Ronald was born Jan. 2, 1950, a 1968 Anderson High School graduate, served in the US Navy and was GM retiree. He was PM of Peerless Lodge #32, past Commander and Chief of Marion Consistory #60, PP of El Zora Temple #124 and deputy of the Desert of Indiana AEAONMS. Ronald was a faithful member of Allen Chapel AME Church where he was head of the Usher Board.
Ronald is survived by his sisters Carolyn Ross Barlow, Nancy Johnson of California; Brothers Tracy Strain of Indianapolis, Eddie Strain of Nashville, TN.; niece Sabrina Stitt of Oregon and a host of family and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his son Leanard Allen Underwood; Mother Dorothy Ross; Brother Carl Edward Johnson and sister Melva Durden.
Service will be held 11am Saturday at Allen Chapel AME Church, 1610 Sheridan St., with burial at Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5-8pm Friday and 10-11am Saturday, both held at the church.
God giveth, and God has taken away Blessed be the name of the Lord. I knew Durden for quite a long time. He and I became friends at the same time we became Deputies. He is going to be missed, I know by me. God bless you. Hopefully you made it in. One day I look forward to seeing you on the other side.
