In Loving Memory of Christopher Michael Batt

Christopher Michael Batt

Christopher Michael Batt, 38

Christopher Michael Batt, 38, passed away at Ball Memorial Hospital on October 16th, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born on December 9th, 1983. He was active in local baseball since childhood, pitching for the Southside Rebels in high school and umpiring games in the Muncie area as an adult. A complicated man, Chris had, at his best, an unparalleled sense of heart and compassion. Chris loved comedy films and could frequently be heard quoting from The Big Lebowski, Wedding Crashers, and Bull Durham, among others. His greatest loves include baseball, fishing (albeit it sometimes illegally), and his three children – Jordyn, 13; Maddox, 11; and Addilynn, 1. Though he battled a substance use disorder, his pride and love for his children was enduring.

Chris is survived by his children, father Mark Batt, brothers Mark Dodds (Alissa) and Deric Batt (Jackie Bittner), sisters Casey Batt (Levi Kennedy) and Kylee Batt (Hank Carroll), and an almost comically large family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother Tammy (Cloyd) Batt, grandmother Lynda Case-Cloyd, great-grandmother (“Nanny”) Grace Case, great-grandfather (“Pappy”) Wallace “Red” Case, grandma Georgetta Batt, stepmother Terri (Brogan) Batt, among others.

Services will occur on Saturday October 22nd at Glazebrooks Funeral Home in Anderson. Visitation is 2pm-4pm, with service commencing at 4pm. A celebration of life will occur at a later date.
