William “Popcorn” Welch
William “Popcorn” Welch, 85, passed away Sept. 20, 2022 Rawlings House Senior Living.
Popcorn was born Feb. 24, 1938 to Yancey Welch and Betty Lawler Welch. He was a GM retiree, enjoyed dominos, football and spending time with family and friends.
Popcorn is survived by his daughter DeAnna Welch-McCoy; sons William Welch Jr.; step children Debra Virgil) A., Mr. Mel C., Penny C., Cathy Hill, Steve Brown; grandchildren DeJuane Shreves, Tonianna Shreves, Zee Brown, Darius G; siblings Betty Sue Swain, Sarah Ann Williams; sister in law Debrora Welch and host of great grandchildren, family and friends.
Popcorn was preceded in death by his parents Yancey Sr., Bettie Welch; daughter Helen Welch; brothers Gardener Welch, Andrew Welch, Joe Lewis Welch, Charles Welch; sister Florence Gould, Katherine “Joan” Wilson and sister in law Ruth Welch.
Service will be noon Friday at Glazebrooks Funeral Services, 2822 Nichol Ave., with visitation 2 hours prior to service.
